Saying Good-Bye to an Icon

The much loved and ever so advertised New Volkswagen Beetle will be discontinued after the 2010 Final Edition came out this year. VW did not produce many Final Editions, however the ones that produced are extremely unique. Right now Tom Wood Volkswagen has 8 of this new and final 2010 editions, most of which are convertibles. Volkswagen brought the New Beetle back for more than 12 years, creating very little change to the model during that time. The new Beetle dominated in the very popular-retro segment during that time.
So how do Americans feel about losing Herbie? Ever since the
very first Beetle came out 70 years ago the car has been an icon. Games like
"slug bug" or "piggy punch" were centered around the spotting of these vehicles,
and Herbie is the main reason people began giving their wheels their own person
with car names, and even imagining personalities.
Let us know about your
personal experiences with personifying your car, or a favorite Herbie episode
you have! As for rumors that a new-New Beetle may be released soon, we can not
say for sure and have not yet had this confirmed. But sources do admit that something "similar" will replace it. So stop by and purchase your
own, Final Edition of the VW Beetle, soon they will be history.
