Not this time, Volkswagen has recently announced their plans for an all-new Passat and for the first time it will be building that car right here in the United States. Volkswagen recently completed construction of their first North American production plant in Chattanooga TN which will be producing this car and hopefully more in the future.

Not only is this car built here in the United States but it is also set to be priced about $8,000 dollars cheaper than the previous base model Passat bringing the base price down from $28,000 to a much more competitive $20,000. This doesn't mean that VW is offering a lesser car but they are finding ways to reduce cost. According to USA Today, "Building the Passat at its new factory in Chattanooga, Tenn., and buying parts from U.S.-based sources cuts the costs enough to allow the drastic price reduction, VW says." This isn't the only good news about the new Passat, the vehicle is 4 inches wider and longer than the outgoing model making it a very similar size to the Accord and Camry. VW has it's sights on expaning their market here in the USA and the investment in TN as well as the cheaper costs should have them poised to accomplish
