Volkswagen Tests E-Golf in the US

Volkswagen has announced that it will begin a pilot scheme to test 20 prototype E-Golf Battery Electric Vehicles over a nine-month period in select locations in the U.S. Twelve of these vehicles will be allocated to selected Volkswagen employees during the time period. By studying E-Golf use across multiple geographical regions, Volkswagen will monitor the effect of climate conditions, driving patterns, and energy performance; the data and insights gained during the scheme will be used in the final development of future EV technology applications.

Volkswagen is working hard at being green while keeping mobile with their innovative electric bicycle, called the Bik.e.  It is just a concept vehicle for now, but with such handy features as folding small enough to fit in your car trunk and recharging while it's there, we hope that it makes it to production someday soon!



Tom Wood is Going Greener




In addition to all the green initiatives that our dealerships and management company already employ, we are now partnering with Ray's Trash Service in developing a company-wide recycling program. We will begin to place various recycling bins throughout the dealerships to collect paper, cans and plastics. It is our goal to begin a process where we can accumulate all mixed recyclables and reduce the number of trash pickups per week.

New VW Plant in Tennessee Scheduled to Open Soon

In July of 2008, Volkswagen of America selected Chattanooga Tennessee to be the home of its $1 Billion VW plant. Not only that, but it also expected to create around 2000 jobs. This plant is now almost complete and production is scheduled to begin soon.

 This massive project is surprisingly "Green" as VW refined its manufacturing process to save 20% of the amount of water and chemicals needed to manufacture a vehicle as well as?
