Charging System Inspection Service

Battery, Alternator, Cables and more

The charging system in your car is what keeps your car working after you have started the car. It consists of many parts. Many people think of only the battery and while that is a key part, it is not the only one. The battery stores power to start your car. The alternator generates electricity and charges your battery while you are driving. The drive belt is connected to the alternator and spins it to allow it to generate electricity. The voltage regulator controls how much electricity goes from the alternator to the battery. You cannot forget all the wiring that connects all the pieces of the charging system together and powers them all.

Inspecting & Testing Your Charging System

Over time and due to use, your charging system begins to break down and pieces of it will need to be replaced to keep the system running properly. You should have regularly scheduled maintenance to ensure the system is functioning.

During inspection and testing, a qualified technician inspects the battery to see if it is leaking and makes sure it is not loose. The technician then tests the battery to make sure it will start your car and hold a charge, and then your alternator to make sure it is functioning properly and still generating the proper amounts of electricity. The technician will also check all the charging system connections to make sure they are tight and working properly.

What Happens If I Don't Have My Charging System Inspected?

If any parts of your charging system are faulty and do not function properly, the battery can become damaged. In addition, your car may not work.

If the battery cannot hold a charge, it will not have the power to start your car.

If the alternator does not produce electricity, it will not keep the car running or charge the battery.

If you do not have your charging system inspected and tested, it could cost you more money in the long run.
